Nicosia is the capital of Cyprus. It is a landlocked city in the centre of the island and is the only capital in the world to be divided between two nations. The UN Green Line runs through Nicosia, the south of the city belonging to Southern Cyprus and the north to the Turkish controlled Republic of North Cyprus. In Nicosia, visitors will find a fusion of the ancient and the modern. A wealth of museums can be found around the city as well as medieval buildings and the old city walls that date back to the Venetian occupation of the 16th century.
